23 March 4 SHANGHAI

SHANGHAI, Means up the river from the sea, began as a fishing village and grew during a period of 1,200 years into an Imperial Chinese county.

SHANGHAI, Paris of the East and Queen of the Orient have been some of the names given to the thriving business center where everything was possible - for a price.

SHANGHAI, is the most densely populated and largest city in China. Shanghai. With 17 million people and.... 7 million bicycles!

COMING TO SHANGHAI:
For two and half hours we cruise through the HUANGPU river.
Lots of traffic on the river and a never ending activity on both shores, filled with industries, tankers, cranes, containers, etc.
Coming to Port.
On the right, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the highest TV tower in China
HUANGPU River: The city radiates from its banks. On the west, The old Shanghai; on the east PUDONG, the New District.
PUDONG: Developed from farmland only a decade ago and now home to 4,000 high rises office buildings (18 stories and up) This area has become the financial center of China
A view from the freeway.
Condos, as far a s you can see!

The Bund, a promenade along the edge of the river, with a wide boulevard. The Buildings where multimillion dollars deals were once made, housed huge trading companies, banks and foreign owned industries, today considered historic monuments of the 1920-30's.
