4.- JAN 31, NAMIBIA COMING TO AFRICA

Our first stop "Coming to Africa"

A former German protectorate but independent since 1990. Namibia is often called."The Land Good made in Anger" because of it stark, surreal landscapes, untamed wilderness and harsh environment.

Dune # 7 on the background.(Said to be the # 2 highest in the world.)

The desert fulfills our expectations of how a real desert looks.
In the Namib Desert (said to be the world’s oldest living desert), we saw towering, sculptured shapes of the different dunes rising over 1,000 feet above the surrounding plains.

Dinner under the stars. The colors of the landscape shift continuously from yellow gold and ocher to purple, rose and deep red.

Namibia’s biggest salt mine, with enormous mounds of salt resembling huge icebergs.
